I created the Moontide period Pants pattern so you could make your own period pants! but of course you will need the fabrics to make them too, as they are not your most everyday fabrics required to absorb your flow! So I’ve create Period panty kits that can be used with the Moontide Period Pants pattern. They are a great eco alternative to disposable sanitary pads as well as tampons. They can be washed and reused, reducing landfill waste.
This kit contains the all the technical gusset fabrics to create an absorbent, waterproof and moisture wicking gusset for your period panties. The kit will make up at least 2-3 Moontide period panties.
What the kit includes –
Absorbent layer 0.5m by 0.32m –
The Absorbent layer is the most important fabric for the period panties. In this kit we use undyed, 100% organic cotton and Zorb® 3D fibres fabric. It is super thirsty fabric and can hold up to 10 times its weight in under 2 seconds!
Waterproof layer 0.5m by 0.32m –
For the Waterproof Layer we use a PUL fabric which is a polyester/polyurethane laminated knit fabric. This is a waterproof fabric that prevents leakage. This fabric is meant to be sewn inside the gusset layer, so you can use your main fabric as the outer layer for the gusset.
Moisture wicking layer 0.5m by 0.32m –
For the Gusset Liner/Moisture Wicking Layer we use Bamboo jersey. Bamboo is naturally moisture wicking, has natural antibacterial properties and is great for people with sensitive skin, as it is is soft and comfy and allows the skin to breathe.
Wide Fold over elastic (optional add on) 7.5m –
For the Moontide period pants pattern you will need to use a 19-20mm FOE. We supply a quality 19mm FOE that works perfectly with period pants. It is not as stretchy as the usual FOE, which means it will hold the fabric in place and close to the body better. You can choose to add this onto your kit.

Great idea and love how can buy the gusset only. The PUL and liner were cut into pieces which didn’t match the absorbent layer so meant I could cut 3 absorbent layers but only 2 of the others.

Hey, So glad you liked the kit!
The pieces were mismatched because I gave you extra of the PUL and liner. Sometimes when I’m cutting them out I am left with a small bit at the end of the length, so instead of wasting it I add the extra to the order. For the smaller kit that you choose I would only expect you to get 1-2 gussets from it. Hope that explains things! 🙂
