Did you know I have a free sleep mask pattern and tutorial on the blog?

Since I started making sleep masks, I pretty much wear one every night, I rotate between three designs and wash them once a week. I looove wearing my sleep masks, they really do block out light in the room so well!
.
This is also a lovely easy make for a beginner sewer or younger person.

I’ve been super excited as my studio (and new wall!) has been having a makeover and I’m soo happy about the lovely light situation on my photos! I swear this red never photographed like this before! ☀️

The makeover isn’t finished yet but I’m getting in there ASAP with my videoing and photographing!! Who knew I could get so excited by a painted panelled wall! 😂 Most of the work has been done my lovely boyfriend. 🥰 I don’t think he even expected me to be this happy about it! 😃

Anyway... this is the Barbary Bralette in a lovely red organic cotton. ❤️

I made these Ivy knickers to use up some remnant f

I made these Ivy knickers to use up some remnant fabric pieces that are not big enough for kits.
.
I love the natural coloured organic cotton ribbed jersey in the centre front and centre back panel paired with this lovely latte coloured lace.
.
However the jersey has quite different stretch qualities to a stretch jersey with Lycra in. This one does not have any in.
.
The width of the ribbed fabric is very stretchy but the stretch retention is not as strong as it contains no Lycra. The height however does not stretch at all!
.
If you are going to use this fabric this needs to be considered in the pattern otherwise the fit will be poor.
.
For this pair I took in 2 cm from the back and front centre and added 3cm to the height on both the front and back gusset seam.
.
This is actually still turned out a size bigger than I wanted so next time I will increase the amount I took away from the width and take away some of the amount I added to the height. (I added a bit too much!)
.
There is also a mathematical way this can be worked out so it’s more accurate which I use to change the stretch percentages of patterns, but that needs more explanation!

Does your sewing machine bobbin get jammed or knotty?
.
This used to happen all the time to me when I started sewing.
.
I went to a sewing class when I first starting sewing with a very experienced sewing tutor and she told us lots of helpful tips!
.
This one made such a big difference to my sewing experience.
.
✨Cut your straying threads as close as you can to the bobbin spool. ✨
.
This is because the needle will try to pick up the other straying threads on your spool as well as the one you want it to pick up as you sew, which will cause a jammed or knotty bobbin!
.
9/10 when my bobbin gets jammed it will be because of straying threads on my spool, so now I know how to fix it!
.

I got sent this photo of these amazing Willow knickers by a very pleased customer. I had to share it as I absolutely love the black and white combination with that gorgeous spiderweb 🕸 fabric for the centre panel. The ruffle elastic just makes it too! 🖤
