Great idea and love how can buy the gusset only. The PUL and liner were cut into pieces which didn’t match the absorbent layer so meant I could cut 3 absorbent layers but only 2 of the others.

Noni’s creation using the Willow pattern and sew kit

willow sewing pattern high waist knicker review

Noni –

“I made these gorgeous knickers last night and they are just so darn cute… These are the Willow knickers and this really is a fabulous pattern. I used one of the kits because I loved this floral design on the front panel. I normally make functional pants, so adding lace and mesh to make these ones was such a thrill! The fit is perfect too sits so nicely around the bum and right on the waist.

The instructions are really detailed and help you understand knicker making, useful if it’s your first time. Yelena has a great website with plenty of information about her background in lingerie making and design and also has a few other patterns, so I really recommend you check her out if you’re interested in making lingerie.”

@olwenamelia’s first go at knicker making using the Penny pattern!

@olwenamelia from Instagram took advantage of the limited time offer of the Penny pattern and made her first ever knickers! She used scraps from her fabric stash to be more sustainable. I just love how the free pattern gave her the boost to make her own! See what she wrote below.

“Behold! Home-made underwear

Don’t look too closely, they’re a bit messy but they fit and I’m happy for a first go. I’ve got a big stash of cotton scraps and have just spent a fortune on more elastc so expect more pants and more colours!

Boycotting fast fashion is easy peasy until it comes to your smalls. Second hand underwear is understandably not a thing. The pants I’m wearing have held out for 2 years but they’re getting baggy, worn and frayed. Call me extravagant but I want more from my knickers than for them to hold out! The sustainable, ethical, long lasting, mega well-made beautiful underwear companies I’ve been drooling over online were a bit out of my budget.

Massive thanks to @sewprojects for putting out a free beginner’s knicker’s pattern just when I was really, really needing some new pants! I was a bit shy about trying to make underwear but the pattern was really simple and I’ve made two more pairs since. Am definitely in the market for more patterns now too. Excellent bit of marketing and the push into #knickermaking that I needed. Thank you.”
