I don’t know about you but my Pinterest is filled with private boards of designer/independant lingerie that are just fabulous! 🤩

And do you know what makes them so pleasing to the eye?

It’s all in the details!

Maybe they have used the most delicate looking lace contrasted with sheer mesh. 😍

Maybe there is a continuity to the set. All the colours completely match, (No white straps in sight that stand out a mile off when the rest of the set is all matching! 😅)

So, what is my Elastic Tension Technique?

I noticed that lots of you who had started sewing their own lingerie were struggling due to the elastics and stretch fabrics.

You’d struggle to get the right tension on the elastic so it didn’t lay flat and fit as it should do.

Maybe the edges would be wavy or really gathered or some areas would feel loose when you used the correct size pattern?

I totally understand the frustration.

This is actually a very common thing to struggle with because it’s not something you really have to do on any type of garment apart from other stretch garments like swimwear.

So it’s a really unique technique!

So I came up with a way to help you achieve the perfect tension no matter your skill level!

Lingerie making isn’t just about feeling amazing in something you’ve made for yourself, even though this is clearly the main benefit. 😄

You can personally make a stand on what matters to you in life and that feels bloody good too!

For me, I love the self responsibility of making something myself. I’ve made it, and I know the full story. I’ve taken it into my hands to create the best lingerie for me. And yeah it really is the best!

Would it surprise you if I told you that the bra where the elastic was applied incorrectly actually turned out atleast a size too big on the band? 😬

Yep, because the wrong elastic tension had been applied on the band of the bra it atcually massively changed the fit of the bra. In this case, stretched out the fabric.

This is why you have to make sure your foundations in lingerie sewing are nailed before you analise the fit, because it really does make a huuuuge difference!

One of the foundations being elastic tension!
